Theresa M. Creighton, formally of Newport, ME and Bellingham, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Winterberry Heights in Bangor, ME at the age of 103.
Theresa was born in Bangor, ME, on October 30, 1921, to parents Neal and Myrtle (Nason) Ryder.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Earl T. Creighton Sr., brothers Gerald during WWII, Neal and his wife Eleanor, sisters Margaret Gray and husband Ernest, Gertrude Weaver and husband Robert, nephews Neal Ryder Jr., Michael Gray, Eric Weaver and Ernest Gray Jr.
Theresa is survived by her son Earl Jr.(Wendy), daughters Marie and Cathy (Jerry). She is also survived by grandchildren Stephanie McCann, Eileen Creighton, Ryan McCallum and Megan McCallum (Billie), nieces Betty Tasker (Fred), Joy Cameron (Robert) and nephew Peter Ryder (Kathy).
Theresa was a 1939 graduate of John Baptist High School in Bangor, Maine. She married Earl in 1946, then stayed home to raise their family. Theresa and Earl resided in Maine until 1967 and then moved to Bellingham, MA, when Earl was transferred for work. She lived in Bellingham until 2008, when she moved back to Newport, ME.
Theresa was a devout Catholic and faith was an important part of her life. She attended Mass regularly and when it became too difficult for her to physically participate, she never missed Sunday Mass on Channel EWTN. Theresa was an avid reader and a prolific letter writer. She loved all animals, music and watching Survivor.
She enjoyed ceramics and spent many hours at her dear friend, Dora Moore’s, ceramic studio. She liked baking and took cake decorating classes.
The family would like to thank the staff at Winterberry Heights and Gentiva Hospice for the care they provided to Theresa during her two year stay with them.
Theresa requested a private service with only her immediate family. Burial will be at a later date.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brown and Sproul Funeral Home in Newport Maine.
