Marvin Cook Preble, Sr.
August 1, 1944 – September 10, 2025
Marvin Cook Preble, Sr., 81, of Waltham, passed away peacefully in Ellsworth, Maine, on September 10, 2025. He was born in Princeton, Maine, on August 1, 1944, the son of Elwin Preble and Gladys (Corbett) Preble.
On July 1, 1965, Marvin married Diane J. (Lander) Preble, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Together they built a loving home and raised their family with devotion and care.
Marvin worked for many years in maintenance, most notably at the YMCA, before his retirement. He was proud of his work, respected by his colleagues, and admired for his strong work ethic and reliability.
Family was always at the center of Marvin’s life. In addition to his wife Diane, he is survived by his three children: Marvin C. Preble, Jr. and his wife Jeanne; Spencer W. Preble and his wife Deanna; and Dawnise L. (Preble) Kennedy and her husband Keith Kennedy. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many extended family members who will cherish his memory.
Marvin will be remembered for his steady presence, his devotion to his family, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
