Lewis Tuttle Obituary

Lewis S. Tuttle, 92, of Newport, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on January 6, 1934, in Newport, the son of Arthur and Bertha (Bickford) Tuttle. He married Regena Gray on December 30, 1955, and together they shared 70 years of marriage and raised four children.

Lewis worked various jobs around Newport starting at a young age, including Friend & Friend, Hoods Creamery, and the local shoe shop. He later drove trucks for Merrill Transport and Lyle Pierce. After retirement, he continued working for Motor Supply. For over 30 years, he was employed by Keith Shorey Trucking, where he and Keith built a strong friendship that extended beyond work into family life.

Lewis and his family built a camp on Pleasant River Lake, which remains a cherished place for the family. He enjoyed the outdoors, camp life, fishing trips with friends, four-wheeling, and hunting.

He was a member of a rifle club and the Exeter Cross Country Cruisers Snowmobile Club. Lewis also served with the Newport Fire Department, retiring as Assistant Chief after 25 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Regena Tuttle of 70 years; his daughter Connie and her friend Jock; her sons Ryan, Caleb, and Matt and his wife Erin and their children Abram and Natalie; his son Dan and his wife Michelle; grandchildren Addie and Bryce; his companion Kadence; and Cameron and his children Mackenzie and Callen. He is also survived by two very special friends, Marie McNichol and her daughter Monique; a niece, Carol Haddix; a nephew, Rick Colson; and extended family.

Lewis was predeceased by his parents; a son, Mike; a daughter, Sheila; a sister, Irene Colson; and his nephews Gary and Joe Colson. The family would like to thank the first responders, doctors, and nurses for their excellent care.
