David John Arlit
October 22, 1959- February 17, 2025


David John Arlit, 65, of North Anson, Maine, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025.


David was born on October 22, 1959, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, to the late William P. Arlit and Adeline A. (Janusz) Arlit. He was also preceded in death by his brother, William "Billy" Arlit, and Billy's wife, Linda M. (Chapman) Arlit.


David is survived by his loving children: Paul D. Arlit, Matthew W. Arlit, Russell Hargreaves and his wife, Donna Hargreaves, and April P. Arlit, along with her significant other, Nathan Gill. He was a proud grandfather to Anyla Arlit, Alana Santos, Adeline Gill, and David Gill, and he cherished his first and only great- grandson, Micah Arlit. He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews.


David is survived by his sister, Janet (Arlit) Mercier, and his brother, Jeffery Arlit Sr. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Herman P. Arlit and Una C. (Smith) Arlit, as well as his maternal grandparents, Matthew Janusz and Sofia (Pitera) Janusz.


David worked for BME Engineering until he became disabled. In his free time, he found joy in collecting stamps, eventually turning his passion into buying and selling them. One of his greatest loves was fishing, and for over 25 years, he spent countless days aboard the Yellow Bird out of Hampton, NH, with Captain Rick. His dedication and experience led him to serve as co-captain of the boat, a role he cherished.


A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Giberson Funeral Home in Madison, Maine. David's final journey will be honored with a burial at sea aboard the Yellow Bird at a later date.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple Street Madison, Maine to assist with his final arrangements.


Additionally, in memory of David, those who are able are encouraged to donate to the Salvation Army, a cause close to his heart that once helped him in a time of need,


David will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his adventurous spirit on the water, and his generous heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
