Charles "Chuck" Peteler Obituary

Charles (Chuck) B. Peteler Jr., 77, of Cornville, Maine passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at his home with his wife by his side.


Chuck was born in Los Angeles, California a son of Charles B. Peteler Sr and Mary Dee Slaybaugh on April 02, 1947.


After graduating high school he served a 4-year apprenticeship at Mare Island Naval Shipyard located in Vallejo, California, on Mare Island in the San Francisco Bay. He went on to work at General Dynamics Electric Boat in Gronton, Connecticut. Here he was able to put his skills as an engineer to good use. He took great pride in the years that he spent working on nuclear submarines.


Chuck loved nature and was a true outdoorsman through and through. This love of the outdoors influenced his decision to move to the great state of Maine, a place he could truly embrace and he did for the past 40 plus years. He loved going for long motorcycle rides on Maine’s country roads. He enjoyed hunting and loved vacationing on Moosehead Lake where he loved to fish and go boating. He loved spending time with his family hosting family get together. He enjoyed being a handyman and was truly a fixer of all things, he loved being able to teach people the skills he had learned throughout his life and he absolutely loved spending time with his beloved dogs Bowden and Brody.


He is predeced by his parents Charles B. Peteler Sr and Mary Dee Peteler.


His survived by his loving wife and best friend Patricia Joyce Peteler, his daughter’s Erin Peteler and Stephanie Strong, his step-sons Tom Tassias and Dave Tassias as well as his grandchildren and great grandchildren.


A Celebration of Life will be held for Chuck at a later date.


A life well lived and he will be missed by all who new him.
